Clauncher contains a discussion with Corphish, and Ash ultimately deduces that Clauncher wishes him and Misty to fight in order to come to a decision which of them receives to capture him, which Clauncher confirms with a nod. Misty happily accepts this, but prior to the fight may even commence, Clauncher is caught in Team Rocket's have fishing line
